Amazon Scam Used On Ripon Resident
Ripon Police recently worked a scam case in which a person received a phone call from someone who claimed to work for Amazon, and stated the person’s Amazon account had been hacked and that someone was attempting to buy an iPhone in Baltimore, Maryland. In order to resolve the issue the scammer had the victim download “Team Viewer” on his computer which gave the scammer full access to the victim’s computer and froze the victim out of it. The scammer also had the victim download a similar app on his cell phone which did the same thing. The scammer was able to gain full access to the victim’s banking information and stole over $3,700. Police recommend verifying who you are taking calls from and verifying a business before allowing anyone to access banking or personal information.

Probation Revoked For Dodge County Drug Dealer
A 26-year-old Milwaukee man originally placed on probation for three years by a Dodge County judge for selling cocaine out of a Beaver Dam storage unit will now serve that time in prison. Anthony Sartin was sentenced Tuesday to three years in prison and two years of extended supervision. Prosecutors say while on probation Sartin used marijuana, drove without a license, left the county without approval, drove a vehicle while intoxicated, fled from police and recklessly endangered the safety of others by driving in a reckless manner, which led to the revocation of his probation. The incident that led to his probation occurred in September of 2017.

The Fond du Lac area is showing strong support for Alliant Energy’s community solar project. The diversified and infrastructure contractor is committing to purchasing 30 percent of the projects solar blocks and becoming an anchor tenant. With Michels subscription, the total amount of solar blocks bought now exceeds 75 percent, just three months after launching the community solar project. Michels is headquartered in Brownsville. Initial Confusion And Mistakes About The Coronavirus
Information about how to protect ourselves from the COVID-19 virus was confusing and often quickly changed a year ago. Ripon Community COVID-19 Task Force member Jeff Puhlmann-Becker admits he was wrong at first about the use of face masks because there was concern there wouldn’t be enough for front-line medical workers. “The task force was talking about how can we make masks and I said “this is just feel good” the CDC has said we shouldn’t be doing masks we should be focusing on how do we get masks for health care providers because at the time you couldn’t find anything.” He says quickly the CDC and health experts changed their minds about the use of masks for everyone. He says other examples of initial mistakes were allowing day care centers to exceed their capacity and believing that children were immune to getting the virus.
Information Important During Pandemic
Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says it is important that people get the latest information about the pandemic, but also accurate information. She says the county health department works hard to keep people up-to-date and one of the ways they do that is with their website. “You know I can’t be on the radio 24/7 sharing the latest and greatest information, but our website the Fond du Lac County Health Department website has all of the latest information.” She says if the state updates its information you will find that change on the health department’s website, which can be found at the county’s website.
