Bank Notifies Customers About Scam

Horicon Bank is notifying its customers about a scam involving debit cards. Recently one of their customers received a call asking about her debit card. The caller claimed to be from Horicon Bank, but the call didn’t feel right. When the customer asked to be transferred to someone else, she was put on hold only to hear Horicon Bank’s own on hold message and music. The customer suspected it was a scam and hung up and called the bank back directly. Bank officials say she did the right thing. According to a Harris Poll scam phone calls last year cost Americans $19.7 billion.

Information Key In Cold Case

Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Chris Randall says they appreciate any and all help they are receiving in trying to bring a 25-year-old cold case to closure. He says that closure is particularly important to the family of James Ruhland who was last seen hitchhiking in North Fond du Lac in October of 1995. Recently the FBI posted information about the Ripon man on their ViCAP website as a missing person. He says if Ruhland were alive today he would be 65-years-old and they hope experts will be able to do an age progression photo for them to show what he might look like today if he is still alive. “We can reach out to them and they can do things like age progression photographs so that is all part of what we are working on now so that’s something that will probably be coming out in the future here.” Randall says if anyone has information no matter how insignificant they think it is they would like to hear about it. If you do know something call Detective Nate LaMotte at 920-929-3377 or their tip line at 920-906-4777.

Registration for that will also open up soon.” She says they will be using safety precautions to protect kids and staff from the pandemic whether it is on field trips or at their Berlin or Green Lake sites. She says the Green Lake site will give them some exciting options for their summer programs. Bald Eagle Now Part Of Menominee Park Zoo Exhibit

Menominee Park Zoo in Oshkosh is excited to announce the addition of a bald eagle to its educational collection. The new federally permitted raptor exhibit is now home to Cayuga, a six year old male bald eagle from Cornell University Wildlife Health Clinic of Ithaca, New York. Since 2015, Cayuga has been under professional care and rehabilitation due to a gunshot wound. The injury resulted in partial amputation of his left wing which prevented him from being released back to the wild. The professional team from Cornell Raptor Program worked with him in hopes of making him an active educational species. Opening Day for Menominee Park Zoo is May 1st.
