C.D. Smith Celebrates Women In Construction
7 March 2021 News
FOND DU LAC, WI— Join C.D. Smith Construction as we celebrate women in the construction industry during national Women in Construction (WIC) Week, March 7-13, 2021.
WIC Week’s focus is to highlight women and their role in the construction industry. From the jobsite to the board room, women contribute to strategic decision-making, preconstruction, project management, estimating, field labor, engineering and more.
“At C.D. Smith Construction, we employ strong women in a variety of construction roles,” says Connie Coon, VP of H.R. “In the office and the field, women are a key part of our 85-year history and our plans for future growth as well.”
Missy Steffes serves as the Operations Manager for C.D. Smith Construction with 24 years of engineering and project management experience. “I thought I wanted to be a nurse, but then my high school drafting teacher suggested construction. I am so glad I chose this professional path as it has been rewarding and something I truly love doing every day,” says Missy.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, women make up 10% of the construction workforce. This percentage includes administrative and office roles as well as field employees.
C.D. Smith is celebrating Women in Construction week through a social media campaign to recognize their roles in the industry.
“As a company, we recognize the value of having a diverse and inclusive workforce,” explains President and CEO Justin Smith. “We simply would not be the company we are today without the strong women we employ.” -end-
