Tuba Dan Day
22 February 2021 News
Polka on Ice drew a crowd to the Village Green in Ripon Saturday as Tuba Dan Day was celebrated. The Wisconsin Broadcaster’s Association honored Tuba with some plaques honoring him for his 50 plus years in radio and his devotion to the community. The City proclaimed the day Tuba Dan Day in his honor. After Polka on Ice the community gathered at Knuth Brewing Company as Tuba hung one of his tubas, really a baritone on the wall. Owner Dave Knuth told the gathering they were supposed to do it during Oktoberfest last year, but that didn’t come off due to COVID-19. The crowd provided a Clark Griswold-style drum roll as Tuba hung the tuba on the wall. Afterwards he humbly thanked everyone for having a day in his honor. The event was caught on video on VNock Broadcasting’s Facebook page.
