Sturgeon Report Day 6

19 February 2021 Sports

Day Six of the Sturgeon Spearing season saw 115 fish harvested on the Lake Winnebago System with 101 of those on Lake Winnebago and the remaining 14 on the Upriver Lakes. The DNR says Thursday’s harvest on the Upriver Lakes narrowly missed tripping the 90 percent trigger to end the season with only 14 adult females and 1 male remaining. The 90 percent trigger will likely be hit today, which means the final day of spearing would be on Saturday. There is a possibility for the 100 percent closure to be hit on the Upriver Lakes Friday. The biggest fish taken yesterday belonged to Steven Lenz who took one weighing 154.5 pounds and measuring 78.2 inches (pictured). The largest fish taken on Lake Winnebago was 121.7 pounds and measured 73.1 inches. The lucky spearer of that fish was Jackson Schroeder.  So far 55 fish weighing 100 pounds or more, four weighing 150 pounds or more have been harvested this season.
