When Sheriff’s investigators called the phone number the scammer used it went to voicemail that claimed he was a detective, but the Sheriff’s Department says he is not working with them. They assure residents the Sheriff’s Office will never call you and ask you for bond.

FDL County Dispatch Upgrade

One of the biggest capital improvement projects for Fond du Lac County this year will be a software upgrade for the county’s emergency communication system. County Communications and Emergency Management Director Bobbi Hicken says it’s about a $2.5 million upgrade that impacts county dispatch, public safety departments, police and fire throughout the county, and the county jail.  “We are actually going to a completely new system. We have purchased new software, new hardware and are very excited about it. We have a very good system, but we’ve had it for a very long time.” She says it will impact everyone in public safety.  Ripon currently provides its own dispatching, but will be making the transition to county dispatch.

US Capital Security

Congressman Glenn Grothman says the security that remains in place at the U.S. Capital a month after the January 6th riot is an overreaction. The federal lawmaker from Glenbeulah says a year ago if you were a tourist you could come to the Capital and meet your Congressman at the base of the Capital steps. He says fencing and other measures leave the city looking like something from the Cold War of the 1950s Germany. “Right now they have the, continue to have all of these fences wire on top of the fences. It looks like we’re East Germany in 1959 or something.” Grothman says you also have to go through checkpoints a few blocks from the Capital.
