Day 5 Sturgeon Report
18 February 2021 Sports
Ninety-one sturgeon were speared on the Lake Winnebago System during Day 5 of the season Wednesday. DNR officials say 68 fish were taken on Lake Winnebago and 23 on the Upriver Lakes. The harvest on Lake Winnebago remains under 50 percent of the harvest cap. However, on the Upriver Lakes 16 adult females and 10 males remain before the 90 percent trigger for the close of season on those lakes is tripped. The largest fish (pictured) taken on Lake Winnebago yesterday belonged to Terry Noone. It weighed 134.4 pounds and measured 77.5 inches in length. The biggest fish taken on the Upriver Lakes was 96 pounds and measured 72.1 inches in length. It was harvested by Cassie Stumpf on Lake Poygan.
