The state’s Department of Health Services reported 52 deaths from COVID-19 Thursday, the most in almost a month. That put the death toll at 6,394 people since the pandemic began. Another 840 people tested positive for the virus, but the state also saw a marked increase in the number of tests administered with 13,177 test results returned putting the positivity rate at 6.4 percent. Sixty-one people were hospitalized with the coronavirus. The Wisconsin Hospital Association reported 313 COVID patients in the state’s 134 hospitals with 97 in intensive care units.
Winnebago County reported 40 new COVID-19 cases Thursday moving past 17,000 total cases with 17,022 cases during the epidemic. Fond du Lac County recorded 19 new cases and Dodge County had 15 new cases. No new cases were reported in Green Lake and 3 new cases were recorded in Marquette County. Waupaca County had 2 new cases and the Waushara County Health Department reported 1 new case and 1 death.
