Violent Riot At The U.S. Capitol

7 January 2021 News

Early this morning Congress certified Joe Biden’s victory in last November’s Presidential Election following a day of turmoil at the U.S. Capitol where Trump supporters stormed legislative chambers and offices. It took police and federal forces hours to restore order, during which 4 protestors died. President Trump egged on rioters and reportedly slowed down the National Guard’s response. Senator Ron Johnson condemned the lawlessness and mourned the loss of life, but maintained his position that tens of millions of Americans still had concerns about the election process. Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers said, “The peaceful transfer of power is the very heart of our government and our country.” He called the rioting “an attack on our democracy.” Wisconsin State Senate Republicans said the attack was unacceptable and un-American. Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul termed the rioting “fascist” and said those responsible must be held accountable.
