Ripon Common Council Selects Next City Administrator

The Ripon Common Council chose the city’s next city administrator Thursday night ratifying an employment agreement following a closed session meeting. Adam Sonntag currently works as the city administrator for the city of Hillsboro where he has been since 2011. He was one of three finalists for the position in Ripon. The other finalists were Abbotsford City Administrator Dan Grady and Dana Schoening who is the director of planning in Sweetwater, Texas. Sonntag is a 2008 graduate of Ripon College. He went on to get a master’s degree in public administration at the University of Minnesota-Mankato. Sonntag says, “I’m very excited to make the transition to Ripon.” He went on to say that the city has grown and he has grown since he went to college in Ripon. He was also pleasantly surprised by the greetings he received from Ripon residents on Social media and through other contacts congratulating him on the job. Ripon officials had hoped to have a new city administrator in place by March 15th to transition that person into the job and work with Rich before her retirement on April 7th.
