COVID Vaccine Priority

Ripon Community COVID-19 Task Force member Jeff Puhlmann-Becker says prioritizing health care workers and those in long-term care facilities as the first to receive COVID vaccines makes a lot of sense. “Those are great. Those are people that certainly deserve to be prioritized.  There’s nobody that is exposed to more infected people than our health care workers and 40 percent of the deaths from COVID have been our long-term care residents, but they are only 2 percent of the population.” He says for health care workers they can give the vaccine to others in hospitals and in long-term care facilities CVS and Walgreen’s is going in to them to give the vaccines. Puhlmann-Becker says the challenge will be getting the vaccine to the general public and developing a method for that.
