Wisconsin saw more than 2,000 new COVID-19 cases for a second straight day Wednesday with hospitalizations remaining above 100. Twenty-nine percent of the 7,427 test results or 2,134 tests came back positive for the coronavirus. The state also saw 37 more deaths raising the death toll from the virus to 5,248 people. Another 122 people were hospitalized with 1,025 total hospitalizations and 224 of those patients in ICU. State health officials also identified a new strain of the virus in the state and the Department of Health Services is now accepting public comments on recommendations for who should receive the COVID-19 vaccine in the next round of the vaccine rollout, known as Phase 1b.
Winnebago County reported 33 new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday. Fond du Lac County recorded 41 new cases and Dodge County had 58 new cases. Two new cases were reported in Green Lake County and there was 1 new case in Marquette County. Waupaca County recorded 18 new cases and 1 new death and the Waushara County Health Department had 6 new cases of the coronavirus.
