State health officials say 22.5 percent of those recently tested for COVID-19 or 1,802 of the 7,896 people tested were positive for the virus. That’s the most in a week, but it is the sixth day in a row that new cases were below 2,000. The number of deaths reported Thursday was 24 pushing the total number of deaths during the pandemic to 5,811. But 6 of the last 7 days the state has had fewer than 50 deaths in a single day. The state’s Department of Health Services also reported 87 people were hospitalized with the coronavirus. The Wisconsin Hospital Association says the total number of COVID-19 patients is 718 with 166 in ICU.

Winnebago County reported 58 new COVID-19 cases Thursday. Fond du Lac County had 11 new cases and Dodge County had 19 new cases. Four new cases were recorded in Green Lake County and 17 in Marquette County.  Waupaca County had 11 new cases and 1 death and the Waushara County Health Department reported 1 new case.
