State health officials say the new daily coronavirus cases Monday fell below 1,000 for the first time in 4 ½ months. The Department of Health Services says 946 or 22.5 percent of the 4,199 people recently tested for COVID-19 tested positive. The last time the number of new cases testing positive for the virus fell below 1,000 was on September 14th. Eight more deaths were also reported putting the death toll since early March at 5,699 people. The state also reported 56 more people were hospitalized. The Wisconsin Hospital Association Monday reports there are 772 people with COVID-19 in state hospitals with 175 patients in intensive care.
On Monday Winnebago County reported 10 new COVID-19 cases. Fond du Lac County recorded 4 deaths and 72 new COVID cases since last Friday. Dodge County had 45 new cases since last Friday. Both Green Lake and Marquette counties reported 1 new case each. Two new cases were recorded in Waupaca County and the Waushara County Health Department had no new cases to report.
