Graham Mertz accounted for three touchdowns and Wisconsin turned four second-half interceptions into 21 points to beat Wake Forest 42-28 in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl.  Mertz threw for 130 yards and ran for two short touchdowns as Wisconsin finished the season on a high note. With the game tied at 21 late in the third quarter, Noah Burks intercepted Wake Forest quarterback Sam Hartman on a pass in the flat when the intended receiver failed to turn around. That set up a touchdown pass from Mertz to Mason Stokke that gave the Badgers their first lead.  Then Wisconsin intercepted Hartman on Wake’s next three possessions. Wisconsin finished the pandemic shortened-season at 4-3 while  Wake Forest fell to 4-5. While celebrating in the locker room after the game, the trophy given to the Badgers shattered.  But the team was still happy celebrating the win.

The Packers held a walk-through Wednesday as they prepare for the Bears on Sunday at Soldier Field in Chicago.  Tackle Rick Wagner suffered a knee injury against Tennessee and did not participate, while a number of  players saw limited participation.  The Packers hope to have running back Jamaal Williams back along with tight end Jace Sternberger. The Bears had a number of players who did not participate in practice including safety Deon Bush, defensive tackle Akiem Hicks, and cornerbacks Jaylon Johnson and Buster Skrine. If Green Bay wins, they will be the number one seed in the NFC throughout the playoffs which means a first round bye.  The Bears need a win to for a Wild Card spot. Both teams have been hot offensively so the defenses will have their work cut out.  Sunday’s game starts at 3:25 with the pregame beginning at 1:00 and it can be heard on FM 102.3, The Bug.

Meanwhile, the Packers have claimed veteran defensive tackle Damon “Snacks” Harrison off waivers from the Seattle Seahawks. Seattle released Harrison on Monday after leaving the 32-year-old inactive for the Seahawks’ 20-9 victory over the Los Angeles Rams a day earlier. Harrison later said on social media that he was still interested in playing. Harrison played six games with the Seahawks this season.
