Sheboygan County authorities say a chase with a stolen vehicle ended when that vehicle crashed in Ozaukee County Monday evening. The vehicle was taken in Manitowoc and the chase on I-43 reached speeds over 110 miles an hour after a Sheboygan County Sheriff’s deputy tried to pull the car over near County Road V. The driver is facing multiple charges and one of the passengers was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

Waupun Man Makes Initial Court Appearance On Fleeing Charge

A 28-year-old Waupun man who failed to show up for his initial appearance in Dodge County court in October on a felony fleeing charge was in court for that hearing Monday. The charge against Timothy Savannah stems from a traffic stop on August 16th on Highway 151 when he was pulled over for speeding in a construction zone. A Sheriff’s deputy could smell marijuana and noticed Savannah’s eyes were blood shot. When asked to step out of the vehicle Savannah sped off instead. There was a pursuit, but it was eventually called off on State Highway 33. A $1,000 cash bond was set for Savannah who will be back in court for a preliminary hearing on January 14th.

Snowplow Drivers Need Space To Do Their Job

Fond du Lac County Highway Commissioner Tom Janke urges drivers to give snowplow operators room to do their job. He says there is a good rule of thumb for staying within a snowplow driver’s vision if you happen to be following a plow. “I always say this is if you can’t see the mirrors of that plow that plow driver can’t see you. And if he doesn’t or she doesn’t realize you snuck up in back of them they don’t realized you’re there.” He says they’ve found most snowplow drivers don’t realize you’re behind them unless you are at least 85 to 90 feet behind them. Janke doesn’t recommend passing a plow. He points out their drivers will sometimes pull over and let vehicles pass them when they have a line of cars trailing them. He says on the other hand often the conditions in front of a plow are worse and plows throw up a lot of snow when they are plowing.

Grothman Promotes Vitamin D Benefits

Congressman Glenn Grothman continues to promote the taking of Vitamin D supplements as a way to possibly ward off infections including COVID-19. He points to studies from Northwestern University and Trinity College in Dublin and another that was conducted in Spain that showed 80 percent of the people that had problems with COVID had Vitamin D deficiency.  “And I emphasize one more time the importance of taking Vitamin D. It always benefits you to lose weight I don’t think that has been publicized as much either, but when I talk to health care professionals when they see people who are in bad shape in hospitals it is frequently people who could lose weight.” The Federal lawmaker from Glenbeulah notes even Dr. Anthony Fauci is recommending taking Vitamin D supplements.

Ripon Chamber Gift Certificates

Another way to support local businesses this holiday season is through Ripon Area Chamber of Commerce gift certificates. Chamber Executive Director Jason Mansmith says they’ve got them available by contacting the Chamber. “They are perfect for anyone on your list and useable at over 45 different locations throughout the city. Come in increments of five, ten, twenty, twenty-five, fifty, a hundred we will make it work for you.” Mansmith says they work just like cash and if you have some left over the merchant will pay you back in cash. He says the real plus about them is they are used at local businesses keeping that money in the local economy.
