Advice In Wake Of Princeton Burglary
Princeton Police continue their investigation into the burglary of the River City Antique Mall early Monday morning. Jewelry and coins were taken after entry was gained by forcing entry through the front door. In light of the burglary police are reminding businesses to keep little or no volume of cash in vulnerable or obvious areas. Business owners and residents are reminded to lock all vehicles, garages, sheds, businesses, and their homes. Dead Deer Could Lead To Pickup Truck Driver

The state’s Department of Health Services and Fond du Lac County Health Department are issuing a public health alert due to an increase in suspected opioid drug overdose activity in the county from November 15th to November 28th. The DHS identified a greater number of opioid drug overdoses than would otherwise be expected within a seven-day period based on the county’s recent opioid overdose activity in each of the past 2 weeks. In the past 14 weeks, the DHS has reported a total of 16 suspected opioid drug overdoses seen at hospital emergency departments. It is unknown what is driving the recent change in drug overdose activity. Tips include calling 911 if you suspect someone is overdosing. Carry Narcan and be prepared to use multiple doses when necessary. Contact 211 for treatment and recovery resources.

Better News Regarding COVID Battle
A member of the Ripon Community COVID-19 Task Force says recently there have been some good developments when it comes to the battle against the pandemic. Jeff Puhlmann-Becker says line graphs he’s been following for months hoping the curve would flatten out had begun to trend that way in past week or so. The graphs had to do with positivity rates for new cases, hospitalizations and deaths. He says the problem is we are coming off the Thanksgiving holiday and we could see another uptick in cases. “Now Thanksgiving was a week ago and the gestation period for this could be 4 or 5 or 6 days until you start to see symptoms. So we don’t know the impact Thanksgiving will have on these line charts and the line charts represent illness, and death, and hospitalizations but that’s promising.” Recently the positivity rate dipped from 38 to 30 percent for the 7-day average, which he also says is good news. Plus three vaccines are waiting for permission to start producing vaccines and dozens of others are in development.

Their plans are to open in the spring of 2021probably late May into June they are shooting for that at this time.” Some of the work includes cleaning, remodeling of rooms, more parking space is being added for guests. Beck says the Heidel House will have a group event planner on staff to plan for things like weddings and conferences and she has that contact information for anyone that would like to call the chamber.
Mentoring Youth About Hunting
The next generation of hunters is getting mentoring through a few programs fostered by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. Conservation Warden Bill Hankee says one program allows youth with no hunting experience to be paired with experienced hunters. “So you can go out without having completed hunters’ safety and you can go out with an experienced hunter who takes you out and you have to stay within arm’s reach of that individual and they kind of coach you along if you will.” He says there is also a youth-gun deer hunt in October and “learn to hunt” programs. Hankee points out that a “learn to hunt turkey” program was held last spring in Fond du Lac County.
