State health officials say 81 more people died of the COVID-19 virus Wednesday bringing the death toll since the first two in March to 3,887.Twenty-seven of the state’s 72 counties reported COVID deaths. Meanwhile 3,619 or 31 percent of the 11,726 latest test results came back positive for the coronavirus. The new cases were less than the 7-day average of 3,854 new cases. The department of health services also says 215 people were hospitalized with a total of 1,535 current hospitalizations and 326 of those patients in ICU.
Winnebago County Wednesday reported 70 new COVID-19 cases and 4 more deaths to put its total cases at 13,876 and its death toll at 133 people. Fond du Lac County recorded 82 new cases, which gives it 9,278 total cases and 54 deaths. Dodge County had 53 new cases to push its total cases to 9,222 with 87 deaths. Three new cases were reported in Green Lake County, which has 1.240 total cases and 8 deaths. Nine new cases were added to Marquette County’s total, which now stands at 1,083 cases with 15 deaths. Waupaca County picked up 22 new COVID cases and 2 more deaths yesterday to give it 3,927 total cases with 129 deaths. The Waushara County Health Department reported 2 new cases and 1 additional death, which puts its total cases at 1,797 and its death toll at 13 people since the pandemic began.
