State health officials reported over 2,000 new COVID-19 cases Tuesday. The 2,384 new results were nearly 40 percent of the 6,017 people who were recently tested for the coronavirus. The seven-day average of new cases dropped for a second straight day to 1,932. But the news wasn’t as good when it came to deaths due to the virus with 72 more reported bringing the death toll since the first in early March to 4,783 people. The State Department of Health Services also reported 170 new hospitalizations with 1,082 current hospitalizations and 249 of those patients in ICU.
Winnebago County Tuesday reported 14 new COVID-19 cases. Fond du Lac County recorded 39 new cases and Dodge County 17 new cases with 5 more deaths. For the second straight day Green Lake County reported no new COVID cases, but Marquette County had 2 new cases. No new cases were reported in Waupaca and Waushara County yesterday.
