This Saturday’s college football game between the Wisconsin Badgers and the Minnesota Gophers has been canceled. The University of Minnesota football team announced Tuesday it will be pausing all team-related activities as it responds to positive COVID-19 cases in the program. According to the team, the scheduled game at Madison for Saturday, November 28 won’t be played, and will be ruled a no contest. The team added due to this season’s Big Ten policy, the game won’t be rescheduled. The matchup between the Badgers and the Gophers is known as the Battle for Paul Bunyan’s Axe, and the teams traditionally play for the trophy each season.

The Packers return to the practice field today getting ready for their Northern Division matchup with the Bears Sunday night at Lambeau Field.  Green Bay (7-3) is coming off a tough overtime loss at Indianapolis Sunday while the Bears (5-5) and in a four-game losing streak had their bye week. Meanwhile, Bears coach Matt Nagy isn’t ready yet to name a starting quarterback against Green Bay. The progress that  Nick Foles and Mitchell Trubisky make in recovering from injuries will be a key determining factor in that decision..

The Packers will have another prime time game this season.  The NFL announced Tuesday that the Packers-Carolina Panthers game in Week 15 at Lambeau Field will be played at 7:15 p.m. CST on Saturday, December 19, 2020. 

Three games are on tap for Thanksgiving.  In the first game, Houston (3-7) is at Detroit (4-6), followed by Washington at Dallas.  Both teams are 3-7.  Finally, tomorrow night Baltimore (6-4) is at Pittsburgh (10-0).

Meanwhile, the Ravens cancelled practice on Tuesday are will conduct all team activities remotely again today, as a result of a developing situation related to COVID-19.

One day after three Ravens — running backs Mark Ingram and J.K. Dobbins, and defensive lineman Brandon Williams — landed on the reserve/COVID-19 list as a result of positive tests (Ingram and Dobbins) and a close contact (Williams), Baltimore canceled practice. The team later added outside linebacker Pernell McPhee on the Reserve/COVID-19 list. He will also miss Thursday night’s game.

Even though, the Pro Bowl won’t be played this year, Pro Bowl teams will still be selected as always, and fans can cast their votes now. Log on to nfl.com/pro-bowl/ballot/ to cast your votes.

Packers offensive players on the ballot include the following: QB Aaron Rodgers, RBs Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams, WRs Davante Adams and Marquez Valdes-Scantling, TEs Robert Tonyan and Marcedes Lewis, Ts David Bakhtiari and Billy Turner, Gs Elgton Jenkins and Lucas Patrick, and C Corey Linsley.

Defensive players include DL Kenny Clark, Dean Lowry and Kingsley Keke, ILB Christian Kirksey, OLBs Za’Darius Smith and Preston Smith, CBs Jaire Alexander, Chandon Sullivan and Kevin King, and Ss Adrian Amos and Darnell Savage.

Special teamers on the ballot are K Mason Crosby, P JK Scott, LS Hunter Bradley, returner Tyler Ervin and coverage specialist Oren Burks.

The Wisconsin men’s basketball team opens its season at home tonight against Eastern Illinois. Wisconsin’s Big Ten season will begin Dec. 21 vs. Nebraska and end March 7 at Iowa. The Badgers play seven conference opponents both home and way – Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Nebraska, Northwestern and Penn State.  The Badgers have games both on Christmas (at Michigan State) and New Year’s Eve (vs. Minnesota).  All Big Ten game times are to be announced at a later date.

Alabama is No. 1 in the initial College Football Playoff rankings, followed by Notre DameClemson and Ohio State and Texas A&M, while BYU debuts at No. 14 despite a 9-0 start to its season.   Florida, Cincinnati, Northwestern, , Georgia and Miami round out the top ten.   Wisconsin tumbled to 16th.    Other ranked Big Ten teams include Indiana (12th)  and Iowa (24th).

In high school girls basketball Tuesday night Berlin lost their opening game of the season at Ozaukee, 70-59.
