Waushara County DA Race
Most District Attorneys in the area ran unopposed for another four-year term in office. One of the lone exceptions was in Waushara County where Republican challenger Matthew Leusink defeated Democratic incumbent Laura Waite. Waite was appointed to the office last April by Governor Tony Evers, but apparently wasn’t doing the job missing for months from the office. Leusink had submitted his name for the office when Evers was looking to appoint someone for the post after Steve Anderson retired before his term was up. That term runs through the rest of this year.
Heavy Voter Turnout
Whether it was absentee or in-person turnout was heavy for yesterday’s election. Fond du Lac County Clerk Lisa Freiberg says the election went smoothly and 93 percent of registered voters in the county exercised their right to vote. Turnout in the City of Ripon was also good with 89 percent of registered voters casting their ballots.

OASD Returning To Hybrid Learning
The Oshkosh Area School District will be returning to hybrid-learning or a mix of in-person and virtual learning on Thursday, November 12th for all 4K-12 schools in the district. The district has been all virtual learning due to COVID-19 cases. In a letter to OASD families district officials say individual classes, grades, and/or schools may be unable to hybrid learning due to COVID-19 positive cases and quarantine periods. Things could change based on case counts from the Winnebago County Health Department. The next weekly data release from the health department is Thursday. The district has planned returns to virtual learning for the weeks of November 30th through December 4th and January 4th through the 8th to help contain COVID-19 spread from Holiday travel and social interaction.
