Wautoma Man Involved In High Speed Chase And Standoff
A 23-year-old Wautoma man is facing charges for allegedly stealing a vehicle in the Fox Valley area and leading deputies from Fond du Lac and Washington counties on a high speed chase. The chase on Interstate 41 reached speeds of 110 miles an hour. He also allegedly pistol-whipped a 22-year-old Wautoma woman who was a passenger during a domestic dispute on I-41 north of Fond du Lac. He eventually stopped the vehicle on I-41 north of State Highway 33 in Washington County. The woman made it safely out of the car and ran toward law enforcement officers. The man eventually gave up after about a 2 ½ hour standoff that brought in a SWAT team and armored vehicles. He was taken to the Washington County Jail and is facing multiple charges in several counties.
Two Million Dollar Bond Set For Kenosha Shooting Suspect
Bond has been set at $2 million cash for the Antioch, Illinois teen suspected of killing two people during a protest in Kenosha in August. Seventeen-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse made his initial court appearance in Kenosha County court Monday. His lawyer asked for a $750,000 bond and electronic monitoring, but prosecutors asked for the higher cash bond and got it. The court commissioner Loren Keating set the bond at $2 million calling Rittenhouse a flight risk. Rittenhouse is facing multiple charges for the August 25th shootings. He will be back in court for a preliminary hearing on December 3rd.
Missing Horicon Man Found Dead
A search for a missing veteran from Horicon over the weekend had a tragic ending. Horicon Police issued a Green Alert for 62-year-old Dale Vogt who was reported missing by his wife. Vogt had a history of cognitive challenges and had left his residence on foot without telling his wife early Friday morning. Police officers, Dodge County Sheriff’s drones, and K9 search teams looked for Vogt Friday and Saturday. A Wisconsin and Southern Railroad work crew found him dead in the Town of Rubicon Sunday.
Mailbox Vandalism Reported In Waupaca County
The Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office is looking for tips about mailbox vandalism that occurred Friday and Saturday in the Town of Lebanon. Pumpkins and other blunt objects were used to damage mailboxes in the areas of Madden Road and Church Road late Friday night and early Saturday morning. Anyone with information about the vandalism is asked to contact Deputy Thorpe at (715) 258-4466.
Walk Away From Dodge County Jail Back In Custody
A walk away from the Dodge County Jail over the weekend wasn’t gone long before he was back in custody. Sheriff’s officials say 30-year-old Robert Haley a work release inmate failed to return from a preapproved medical appointment Friday. The Beaver Dam man was back in custody on Saturday. He was serving a 9 month sentence at the jail on a sexual assault-related crime.
Election Today
Wisconsin voters who haven’t already taken advantage of early voting or in-person absentee voting will have a lot to vote on today. In addition to the Presidential election there will be voting for Congressional seats, State Senate and State Assembly. In Fond du Lac County there is also voting on Fond du Lac County District Attorney, County Clerk, County Treasurer, and Register of Deeds although all those candidates are uncontested. Ripon voters will also be asked to consider an operational referendum for the Ripon Area School District. Polls will be open from 7 am to 8 pm. Results of contested races for the area will be posted on the Hometown Broadcasting website.
Bear Season A Success
Wisconsin DNR officials say 4,129 bear were harvested during the recent bear season or about 450 more bear than were taken during the 2019 season. DNR large carnivore specialist Randy Johnson says Wisconsin is a national leader in bear hunting and preliminary registration data shows that to be true once again this year. He says despite slight reductions in the overall quota and total permits available to hunters, the number of bears harvested were up. In fact all four management zones met and exceeded harvest quotas.
Webinar About Opportunities To Become Government Vendors
Envision Greater Fond du Lac, the Technology Innovation Center, and Wisconsin Procurement Institute will partner this month to present, “Locating Opportunities with Federal, State, and Local Governments.” It’s an online or virtual presentation on Thursday, November 12th from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. Last year the Federal Government spent $600 billion on goods and services and the state $3 billion.
