Morgan was last seen in the King area on March 6th. He was wearing a black NIKE sweatshirt with white on the front and a grey colored beanie style hat. Bear Cub Hit And Killed By Washington County Motorist
A male bear cub seen roaming with his mother and a sibling cub was struck and killed by a motorist in Washington County Monday night. A Sheriff’s deputy found the dead cub on the west shoulder of U.S. Highway 45 about a half a mile south of State Highway 145. It weighed 65-to-70 pounds. The driver that hit it did not report the accident. The cub was taken back to the Sheriff’s Office and turned over to the Department of Natural Resources. The Sheriff’s Department had been getting reports about the mother and two cubs moving through the county since November 9th.
Ripon Area United Way Campaign
As with most charitable efforts this year COVID-19 has presented some challenges to the Ripon Area United Way. Board of Directors President Jeff Puhlmann-Becker says there are 17 area agencies that provide services to the community that still need their help. “But still there is 17 community organizations and programs that serve our community to make it a better place to live and work that are depending on these funds.” Some of those agencies include Drug Free Communities of Fond du Lac County, the Family Resource Center, Habitat for Humanity, Traded Treasures Thrift Shop and Food Pantry, and three child care centers in Ripon. The best ways to give are on the Ripon Area United Way Facebook page, on their website or you can mail a donation to the Ripon Area United Way, PO Box 71, Ripon, WI. 54971.
Support Your Local Business
The President and CEO of Envision Greater Fond du Lac says this year more than ever it is important for people to support their local small businesses. Sadie Parafiniuk says businesses have had to pivot and offer online ordering, takeout, and delivery to cope with restrictions brought on by the pandemic. “Our small businesses have done all that they can to pivot to a different platform either offering drive up services or E-commerce and I know downtown Ripon and the surrounding communities in Ripon have really done a nice job at offering those services.” She points out that the Ripon Area Chamber of Commerce and Ripon Main Street have provided great links on their websites on how to shop online at your businesses or how to call and order and pick up products. She says that support is important to help the economy bounce back.

Brandon-Fairwater PD Receives Donation
The Brandon-Fairwater Police Department recently received a generous donation that could end up saving lives. Bonduelle Foods in Fairwater donated a new portable defibrillator. The emergency medical equipment can help resuscitate someone that is having cardiac issues. Bonduelle plant manager Kevin Dornbrook helped make the donation possible. Brandon-Fairwater Police Chief Gary Durkee accepted the donation from Manager Marla Geerdts. Chief Durkee says donations like that help to keep the communities of Brandon and Fairwater safe.
Scouting Provides Opportunities
A scout master in Ripon says there are opportunities for both boys and girls to learn new skills through the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. Mike Bair says the program has been going strong in Ripon for more than 70 years, but has changed over the years now allowing girls to become scouts as well. “We’ve got a lot of young men and now we are getting some young ladies in it as well. There are the opportunities that scouting provides, the leadership, the sense of community, the sense of getting out there and doing great things.” Bair says once a month they provide a camping adventure. Troop 735 meets on Monday nights at St. Catherine Siena’s from 6:30 to 7:45 pm and the Cub Scout Troop meets Tuesday nights from 6:30 to 7:30 at Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ. For more information on scouting contact Bair at 920-289-06
