Wisconsin set a new record for the number of new daily cases of COVID-19 Wednesday with 5,935 new cases or nearly 36.5 percent of the 16,268 test results that were returned. The state now has 244,002 confirmed cases since February 5th and almost 100,000 cases in a month. Fifty-four more deaths put the death toll at 2,156 people since the outbreak began. The Department of Health Services also says there were 243 more hospitalizations putting that total number at 1,747 with 360 patients in intensive care units.
Winnebago County reported 136 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday and 1 more death, which gives it 9,800 total cases and 74 deaths. Fond du Lac County had 131 new cases and 1 new death and now has had 5,647 total cases and 24 deaths. Fond du Lac County also has 39 people currently hospitalized due to the virus. One-hundred and fifty new cases were reported in Dodge County to put its total cases at 5,131 with 36 deaths. Green Lake County had 11 new cases and now has had 854 total cases and 4 deaths. Marquette County reported 31 new cases to bring its total cases up to 757 with 5 deaths. Fifty-eight new cases in Waupaca County push its total cases to 2,834 and 3 new deaths bring the death toll to 67 people. The Waushara County Health Department reported 81 new COVID cases yesterday, which gives it 1,385 total cases and 5 deaths since the pandemic began.
