Joan Ballweg Runs For Senate Seat
14 October 2020 News
State Senate candidate Joan Ballweg says her experience representing the 41st State Assembly District would benefit her in the state senate. The state lawmaker from Markesan is in her eighth term in the Assembly and she feels that experience and the contacts she’s made in state government would be a benefit in representing the 14th State Senate District. She says after the election the priority will be on recovering from the economic fallout of the pandemic, which will require belt tightening on government levels to get through much the way that individual families have had to do it. She says some of the bills she worked on as chair of the Task Force on Suicide Prevention are still pending in the Senate and she’s hoping they can be taken up after the election as well. “Many of the bills we worked on through the suicide prevention task force made it through the Assembly, but were held up in the Senate because they did not finish their session because that is when COVID started.” Ballweg would also like to continue to work with the Wisconsin Legislative Children’s Caucus, which watches out for the welfare of children and their education.
