BD Man Sentenced For Threatening Officers

A Dodge County judge Friday sentenced 23-year-old Samuel Stephenson of Beaver Dam to 3 years and 4 months in prison and 5 years of extended supervision for threatening two police officers and felony possession of marijuana. Stephenson was involved in a fight after trying to enter a residence in Beaver Dam in January of 2019 and a police officer had to use a taser to take him into custody. At the jail Stephenson threatened to knock out a police officer by socking the officer in the jaw and also threatened to take a brick and smash in the face of the Officer’s K9.  District Attorney Kurt Klomberg says threatening an officer is a serious and aggravated offense.

Internet Access Not Much Of An Issue For RASD Virtual Learning

For the most part the Ripon Area School District hasn’t had the broadband issues some school districts have experienced that are relying on more virtual instruction during the pandemic. District Superintendent Mary Whitrock says it has worked out pretty well for students within the district. “We have about 60 hot spots out for families just being prepared and of course that internet service that we are providing them is only for the device the child is using it doesn’t provide internet for the household or anything like that.” She says district residents living out in the Rush Lake area don’t have good internet access, but it is something they continue to work with providers on.

Jim Cleveland says some of the larger companies deal in trade with Asian and European countries. But he says more small to mid-size companies than you would think deal in trade to Canada and Mexico. “There is a good deal of trade happening in that small to mid-size company market that is happening certainly within the North American boundaries, but as well some into Asia and Europe.” Cleveland says each year the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation sponsors a trade mission where they go to foreign markets and try and connect Wisconsin businesses with foreign buyers.
