The state’s Department of Health Services says a new daily record for the number of hospitalizations from COVID-19 was set Wednesday with 153. Also for the first time the state has more than 1,000 hospitalizations due to the coronavirus with 1,017 and 246 of those patients are in intensive care units. The state also topped over 3,000 daily cases again with 21.4 percent of the 14,542 test results or 3,107 tests coming back positive for the virus. That gives the state 158,578 total cases since testing began in early February. There were also 28 new deaths reported Wednesday bringing that toll to 1,536 people.
Winnebago County reported 109 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday and 1 new death giving it 6,603 total cases and 46 deaths. Fond du Lac County reported 112 new cases putting its total cases at 3,220 with 17 deaths. Fifty-three new cases were recorded in Dodge County, which gives it 2,733 total cases with 19 deaths. Twenty-two new cases in Green Lake County put it at over 500 total cases with 522 cases and 2 deaths. Marquette County had 19 new cases to give it 455 totals cases with 2 deaths. Sixty-seven new cases and two new deaths were reported in Waupaca County raising its total cases to 1,837 with 28 deaths. The Waushara County Health Department recorded 14 new COVID cases, which gives it 653 total cases and 3 deaths since the health crisis began.
