Wisconsin set a new record Thursday for the number of people testing positive for the COVID-19 virus in a single day. The 3,132 positive test results were 18.8 percent of the 16,656 test results that came back. That beat last Saturday’s previous record of 2,892 by 240 people. There were new cases in 69 of the state’s 72 counties. Hospitalizations also remained high with another 110 COVID patients hospitalized. After two days of double digit increases the state saw 9 deaths from the coronavirus bringing the death toll since the first case was reported February 5th to 1,424 persons.

Winnebago County reported 232 new COVID-19 cases Thursday giving it 5,740 total cases and 38 deaths. Eighty-five new cases were recorded in Fond du Lac County, which gives it 2,707 total cases with 14 deaths. Dodge County had 101 new cases bringing its total cases to 2,369 with 19 deaths. Fourteen new cases in Green Lake County puts its total cases at 403. Six new cases were reported in Marquette County, which has 366 cases and 1 death.  Waupaca County Public Health recorded 43 new cases and 1 new death giving it 1,545 cases and 23 deaths. In Waushara County 25 new cases were reported, which gives the county 524 total cases and 3 deaths since the health crisis began.
