Bond has been set at $2 million for a 52-year-old Omro man suspected of shooting and killing Lavar Wallace and Melissa Matz at a home on Elo road in the Town of Omro last week. Andrew Clark is charged in Winnebago County court with two counts of first degree intentional homicide and attempted mutilation of a corpse. The man that tried to help him establish an alibi 33-year-old Michael Draine of Hudson, Iowa was released on a signature bond after being charged with harboring or aiding a felon. During a press conference yesterday Winnebago County Sheriff John Matz said Clark called 911 reporting that someone had broken into the home, the house was on fire and his wife wasn’t breathing. But investigators figured out towels and rags soaked in accelerant were used to stage a fire. Investigators also found video from a bar prior to the incident showing Clark and Melissa Matz having a heated argument, which turned out to be over missing money. Clark owns a cleaning business and after the shootings left with Draine to work at a bar he knew had surveillance cameras in an attempt to establish an alibi. Draine told investigators he cooperated with Clark because he feared for his life. Clark is back in court for a preliminary hearing next Wednesday. Draine returns to court on November 9th.
