The Packers reviewed game film Monday of their 37-30 road win over the New Orleans Saints .  Defensively, the Packers have dealt with some crucial injuries. Nose tackle Kenny Clark, has been out for two games and against the Saints, linebacker Christian Kirksey left the game with a shoulder injury and may be out for a couple of weeks.  Ty Summers replaced him and called the signals for the defense.  The linebacker had not played a snap on defense prior to Sunday. Against New Orleans, he operated with the green dot and led the team with 9 tackles. Coach Matt LaFleur was asked if Summers did well enough to start against the Falcons Monday night if Kirksey can’t play.  He said the position will be evaluated but that Summers did a lot of good things and hopefully he can build on them going forward.

The 3-0 Packers host the 0-3 Atlanta Falcons Monday night.

In Monday Night Football the Chiefs won on the road over the Ravens in a battle of unbeatens, 34-20.   Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes easily tore apart the Ravens defense as he completed 31 of 42 passes for 385 yards and four touchdown, outdueling Baltimore quarterback and defending league MVP Lamar Jackson. Jackson completed just 15 of 28 for 97 yards and a touchdown.  Jackson also gained 83 yards on nine carries.  The Chiefs improve to 3-0 while the Ravens drop to 2-1.

 

In high school sports, the JV/Varsity volleyball match today between Westfield and Wautoma is cancelled.  A makeup date has not been scheduled yet.

The Tampa Bay Lightning won the Stanley Cup Monday night defeating the Dallas Stars 2-0 in six games.  It was Tampa Bay’s first Stanley Cup Finals win since 2004.  The Lightning’s Victor Hedman scored 10 goals in the playoffs and won the Conn Smythe Trophy.

 

The Brewers open the playoffs at Los Angeles Tuesday night against the Dodgers.  Manger Craig Counsel said Monday he would not announce his starting pitcher until the eve of game one at Dodger Stadium.  With Corbin Burnes on the 10-day injured list because of a strained left oblique, It could be a bullpen day — left-hander Brent Suter delivered three scoreless spot starts in September — or Josh Lindblom on a short leash, or even Brandon Woodruff on short rest.

The playoffs get underway today with three game in the American League.  Houston plays at Minnesota, the White Sox are at Oakland and Toronto is on the road at Tampa Bay.
