Governor Declares New Health Emergency
22 September 2020 News
Governor Tony Evers has declared a new public health emergency and issued a new masking order that will be in effect for 60 days or until the declaration of a new order. In his executive order Evers noted that by mid-September eight of the 20 cities in the United States with the fastest increase of COVID-19 cases were in Wisconsin. They are La Crosse, Whitewater, Green Bay, Beaver Dam, Oshkosh, Platteville, Appleton and Madison. The order requires people to wear masks of face coverings in enclosed spaces were people congregate. There are exceptions for those who have medical issues and cannot wear a mask. The highest rate of new COVID-19 cases is among 18 to 24-year-olds.
