Another grim milestone was passed this morning as the number of global deaths due to the pandemic surpassed 1 million. In the United States that number was approaching 210,000. Meanwhile in Wisconsin Monday 1,726 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed or nearly 22 percent of the 7,885 test results that came back. Over the last 7 days the state has been averaging 2,155 new cases a day. Since testing began on February 5th 117,588 people have tested positive for the virus. Two more people died, which brings the death toll in the state to 1,283 people.
Winnebago County continues to see triple digit daily increases in COVID-19 cases with 128 new cases Monday giving it a total of 3,809 cases with 26 deaths. Dodge County had 102 new cases since last Friday putting its total cases at 1,884 with 16 deaths. Over the weekend Fond du Lac County had 186 new COVID cases, which gives it 2,139 total cases and 13 deaths. Nine new cases were reported in Green Lake County Monday giving it 286 total cases. Seven new cases recorded in Marquette County put its totals at 271 cases with 1 death. Waupaca County Public Health officials report 78 new cases since last Friday giving it 1,099 cases with 20 deaths. Waushara County added 54 new cases since last Friday pushing its total cases to 379 with 2 deaths since the health crisis began.
