More Information Released On Fire At Ripon Business
10 August 2020 News
The fire at Signature Wafer in Ripon Sunday morning was restricted to a large trash compactor unit connected to the building at 850 Stanton Street. Ripon Fire Chief Tim Saul says firefighters did encounter some heavy smoke when they arrived. The building was searched to make sure everyone was out. Saul says the unit is attached to the building and enclosed on the outside. He notes the blaze did not extend into the building. “We realized from thermal imaging camera and our investigation that we did not have fire extension into the building itself. They were able to hold the fire in check until they got the dumpster, the compactor pulled from the building where they could get into the compactor.” The fire and smoke did not make it into the food preparation area, which Saul says is because the fire doors connected to it worked. No injuries were reported. Fire Departments from Fond du Lac, Brandon-Fairwater, Princeton, and Grand River responded to the scene and firefighters from the Town of Algoma were on standby in case another call came in to the City of Ripon during the fire. The time of the fire call was about 7:15 Sunday morning.
