Lake Winnebago Rescue

30 August 2020 News

Eight people were rescued from Lake Winnebago Saturday afternoon when their boat began taking on water about a mile northeast of the lighthouse in Fond du Lac. The nearly 18-foot vessel began taking on water due to heavy winds and waves in the area. Four of its occupants panicked and jumped in the water hoping to keep the boat afloat. A DNR conservation warden picked up one of them and a Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s boat the other three. The boat and the four people who stayed with it were towed back to shore. Fifty-year-old Michael Jus of Fond du Lac was operating the watercraft. No one was injured.
