Jacob Blake Shooting Investigation

Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul gave the media an update Wednesday evening on the Department of Justice’s investigation into the Jacob Blake police shooting in Kenosha. According to the Division of Criminal Justice preliminary investigation a woman called Kenosha Police and told them her boyfriend was there and wasn’t supposed to be. It wasn’t specified whether that boyfriend was Jacob Blake. Police tried to arrest Blake when they showed up. An officer used a taser on Blake, but that didn’t stop him. He was shot from behind by Officer Rusten Sheskey as he was leaning into his SUV. DCI agents did find a knife on the driver’s side floor of Blake’s vehicle. Blake admitted to DCI agents he had a knife in his possession during the incident. Blake survived the shooting, but his family says he is paralyzed from the waist down and may not walk again.  The DCI will present its findings to a prosecutor in about 30 days.

Teen Arrested In Kenosha Shootings

Authorities in Kenosha say a teen has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting during protests in the city Tuesday night. Seventeen-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse was arrested in Antioch, Illinois on a charge of first degree intentional homicide. Antioch is about 20 miles southwest of Kenosha. Three people were shot during protests over the police shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha Tuesday night and two of them died. It is not known if Rittenhouse was responsible for all three shootings, but videos on social media appear to show him carrying a gun and opening fire. Rittenhouse is being held pending extradition to Wisconsin.
