Driver’s License Renewal Extension

Due to the pandemic and the continued health risk to drivers over age 60 the state DOT’s Division of Motor Vehicles has granted them an additional 60 days extension to renew their driver license. Drivers over age 60 whose license expired after March 12th now have until November 23rd to visit a DMV office to renew their license. Drivers can renew up to a year before the expiration date on their card. That means drivers with winter expiration dates can visit a DMV office before the weather runs cold. An expired driver license is still valid for voting providing it expired after the last General Election November 6th, 2018.

Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett On Hosting DNC

For Milwaukee the pandemic has limited the usual pomp and circumstance that goes with hosting a Democratic Presidential Convention, but Mayor Tom Barrett says they will make the most of their time in the national spotlight.  “Even though we’d rather have 50,000 people in Milwaukee right now we understand the importance of what is going on nationally with the pandemic and so our goal I think as a nation is to get life back to normal and this is going to be part of it electing a new president of the United States.” Barrett says one of the major differences between Democratic Presidential Nominee Joe Biden and President Donald Trump is Biden has always taken the coronavirus seriously.  Barrett feels we need responsible leadership to work our way through the pandemic, the economic tsunami it has created, and the fight for racial justice. Barrett says it’s an honor to gavel in the Democratic National Convention in Milwaukee.

Head Start Pandemic Precautions

ADVOCAP’s Head Start and 4K programs in Fond du Lac, Green Lake, and Winnebago counties will take necessary precautions for the pandemic. Lorri Bohn of ADVOCAP says they will be using sanitizer, have smaller class sizes to allow for social distancing, meals will be pre-plated, and they will be following CDC and county health department recommendations. Children won’t be required to wear masks all the time. Bohn says that would not be practical and would be difficult to do given the age of the kids. “We will spend all day doing that and that is not our purpose so they will like I had mentioned be introduced to it that will be left up to the teacher when that happens.” Bohn notes they will be teaching kids a little bit about germs so they have an idea of why things are being done.
