With eight deaths Tuesday Wisconsin surpassed 1,000 deaths from COVID-19 during the pandemic. Those deaths brought the death toll in the state to 1,006. Governor Tony Evers expressed his condolences to all state residents dealing with the loss of a family member, a friend, a coworker, or a neighbor. He also noted that on July 9th the state seven day average was 2 deaths a day from the virus, but a month later the seven day average has increased to 8 deaths a day. Of Wisconsin’s 72 counties 52 have reported at least one COVID-19 death. Tuesday the state reported 724 new cases or 5.3 percent of the 13,599 test results that were returned. Since February 61,785 people in Wisconsin have tested positive for the coronavirus.
Nineteen new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Winnebago County Tuesday bringing its total to 1,212 with 18 deaths. Dodge County recorded 10 new cases giving it a total of 845 cases and 5 deaths. Fond du Lac County reported its second death in less than a week bringing that toll to 8 deaths and it has had 685 people test positive for the virus. One new case was reported in Green Lake County giving it 57 cases while no new cases were reported in Marquette County which has had 80 cases and 1 death. Seven new cases in Waupaca County give it 482 total cases with 15 deaths. Waushara County Health Department had 7 news cases giving it 125 total cases and 1 death since the outbreak began.
