State health officials say the number of people testing positive for COVID-19 Thursday nearly doubled from 478 Wednesday to 943 yesterday. The percentage of those testing positive was 7.6 percent of the 12,415 results reported back. Sixty of the state’s 72 counties reported new cases of the coronavirus. The total number of cases reported since the first in early February is now 63,206. Seven more deaths were also reported bringing that toll to 1,018.
Nineteen new COVID-19 cases were reported in Winnebago County yesterday bringing the county’s total cases to 1,235 with 18 deaths. Eighteen new cases in Dodge County give it 875 cases with 5 deaths. Fond du Lac County heads into the weekend with 20 new cases or 735 totals cases and 8 deaths. Green Lake County reported 3 new cases giving it 60 total cases, while no new cases were reported in Marquette County which has had 80 totals cases and 1 death. Waupaca County Public Health reported 14 new cases Thursday giving it 509 total cases and 16 deaths. No new cases were reported in Waushara County which has had 127 cases and 1 death since the beginning of the global health crisis.
