Medicare Scam
The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department is warning residents about a Medicare scam in which scammers send residents a DNA swabbing kit. Through package tracking the scammer knows when the package is received and calls the person to instruct them on how to use the kit. They say a doctor ordered the test. It sounds and looks official with a prepaid envelope to return the kit and you have to sign a form indicating it is your signature for the test. It is then shipped back to the scammer who promptly overbills Medicare. When Medicare finds out the test was phony they then bill you for that amount. Some of the bills have been as high as $10,000.

Congressman Grothman On Potential COVID 19 Drug
Congressman Glenn Grothman says an FDA-approved cholesterol drug is showing some promise in significantly downgrading COVID-19’s symptoms and severity. His statement follows a study by Israel’s Hebrew University of Jerusalem, working in conjunction with New York’s Mount Sinai Medical Center about the drug Fenofibrate a generic form of the brand name drug Tricor. He’d like to see the CDC and NIH take a look at it. “I am trying to push the CDC and the NIH the National Institute of Health to look into what the Israelis feel is something that is very beneficial in dealing with the COVID.” He says he’s disappointed that the CDC won’t consider drugs out there because they might not be as profitable to produce.
