Names Released From Fatal Accident In Green Lake County
Names have been released from the fatal three-vehicle accident in Green Lake County last Friday morning. Twenty-two-year-old Quintin Herdt from the Green Lake and Princeton area was killed in the crash involving a westbound SUV, eastbound semi-truck, and his eastbound passenger car on State Highway 23 east of St. Marie Road. Eighteen-year-old Carter Hahn of Ripon was driving the SUV and suffered minor injuries. The truck driver, 64-year-old Thomas Schuster of Ripon, was not injured. The Sheriff’s Office and State Patrol are investigating the accident.
Woman Thrown Or Jumps From Vehicle In Columbia County

The Columbia County Sheriff’s Department is investigating whether a 22-year-old Madison woman was thrown or jumped from a moving vehicle on County Highway AA in the Town of Lewiston early Sunday morning. Taylor Ninnemann was taken to Divine Savior Hospital in Portage and later flown to the UW-Hospital in Madison where she died. The driver of the vehicle 24-year-old Jeremiah Collins of Madison was suspected of being intoxicated. He was arrested and taken to the County Jail. Collins and Ninnemann were reportedly arguing before getting into the vehicle.
Slow No Wake Order Lifted
Waupaca County Emergency Management has lifted the “Slow-No-Wake” order that has been in place for the waters of the Wolf River downstream of the City of New London. The order was repealed Tuesday morning. Emergency Management Director Andrew Carlin says if waters reach a threatening level again another “Slow-No-Wake” order may be issued.
Wisconsin National Guard COVID-19 Specimen Collection Teams In The Area
Wisconsin National Guard specimen collection teams were back in the area over the last few days collecting samples for COVID-19 testing. Teams have been at Columbia Correction, Dodge Correctional, and Waupun Correctional. One team conducted site-based testing in Oakfield yesterday. As of Tuesday Wisconsin National Guard teams have collected 131,441 specimens statewide. In addition, approximately 30 troops are working at a call center that informs people of their COVID-19 test results.
COVID 19 Guidance
Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says last Friday she sent out some guidance to schools, colleges and universities, and daycares on how to handle reopening during the pandemic. “Our goal here is to ensure school districts, colleges and universities, as well as daycares have the necessary tools they need to prepare their staff, the parents, as well as students for the upcoming school year.” Mueller says there is constant change with the COVID-19 outbreak so she will send out changes in guidance accordingly. The guidance is based on recommendations from the CDC.
All In Grants
The President and CEO of Envision Greater Fond du Lac says small businesses that need help recovering from the impact of the Safer at Home orders can apply for a “We’re All In” grant from the state. Sadie Parafiniuk says businesses are welcome to apply for the $2,500 grant, but the window to do that closes next Tuesday. “That is money from the state it is being administered by WEDC, which is the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation. It is a $2,500 cash grant available to small businesses.” She says to apply you will need financial records and a letter of support, which Envision would be happy to do for you. ADVOCAP Head Start Official Will Be At Food Box Program
An official with ADVOCAP’s Head Start program says she will be passing out information about the program at three locations next week where Feeding America food distributions will be held. Lorri Bohn says Monday the program will be at the County Fairgrounds in Green Lake from 1 to 3 pm, and Tuesday at the Ripon High School parking lot from 9 to 11 am, and Clay Lamberton Middle School in Berlin from 11 am to 1 pm. She will be bringing applications for Head Start and stickers for the kids. “Feeding America is a great organization and I’m grateful to be able to have that partnership and for them to invite us and allow us to help them meet the needs of the community.” There are a number of partners involved in what’s known as the Farmers to Families Food Box program.
