Personal Protective Equipment

Green Lake County Health Officer Cathy Munsey says for now they seem to have enough personal protective equipment for their needs. “We have looked at what we have had. We’ve been okay with the supplies we had ourselves, but part of our incident command team is looking at all of our partners.” She says they want to make sure that any community partners that have to deal with a COVID-19 positive patient has what they need. She says that could include funeral homes, dentists, long-term care facilities, hospitals and others.  Green Lake County Emergency Management Director Gary Podoll does a weekly inventory of what their key facilities have and they have a limited stockpile of PPE from the state for replenishing.

Decision To Cancel AirVenture Was Not Easy

When officials with the EAA announced the decision to cancel this year’s AirVenture Fly-In Convention their website crashed. Dick Knapinski of the Experimental Aircraft Association says it’s a globally popular event and people flocked to their website to read the news that morning. He says the decision to cancel the 68th annual event wasn’t an easy one, but with the uncertainty of when restrictions will be lifted because of the COVID-19 health crisis they couldn’t put that many people attending AirVenture at risk. “With our 5,000 volunteers and with 800 exhibitors and with all the airshow performers, 10,000 aircraft coming in you had to take a look at where are we going to be at by the end of July as far as large public gatherings.”           Knapinski says without this year’s event AirVenture 2021 is sure to be an epic reunion. Dates for next year’s event are July 26th through August 1st.

Reopening Documents Available

Documents are now available to Fond du Lac County businesses to use in response to the Safer at Home orders. The documents; Pandemic Operations Plan, COVID Screening Tool for Employers, and Business Guidance, are meant to provide guidance for businesses as they begin to reopen after the order expires. Business owners, employers and the communities who support them should follow the guidelines as restrictions ease or become lifted to avoid a resurgence of the pandemic. Envision Greater Fond du Lac’s Reopen Fond du Lac County Task Force, in partnership with the Fond du Lac County Health Department created the materials, which are available at Envision’s website.
