FDL County Task Force Will Develop Guidelines For Getting Back To Business

A task force is being created in Fond du Lac County consisting of business, community, public health, and religious leaders to develop a common sense and responsible plan to reopen businesses when the threat of the current pandemic eases. District Attorney Eric Toney is hoping for a science-based plan using concrete metrics to guide that decision. “We want to balance protecting people’s public health at the same time and not just reopening to reopen, but also recognizing there may be some constitutional issues with aspects of the Safer at Home orders and that will take a judicial determination.” Toney says he foresees Envision Greater Fond du Lac talking the lead on the task force, which will be a county-wide group. He says the safety needs of Fond du Lac County will not always align with Milwaukee County or other parts of Wisconsin.

EAA in Oshkosh has found a couple of ways to give back to the community during the current health crisis. They asked the Oshkosh Area United Way if someone needed help and found out the Oshkosh Fire Department needed assistance with something. “You know we need frames for our plastic face masks. When we go out on calls first responders and things like that we could use those frames where you put those clear plastic face masks over, so.” They gave several hundred of the frames to the fire department. Knapinski says they also donated 500 to 1,000 pounds of food to the Oshkosh Community Pantry when the Hops & Props event was cancelled in early March.
