Bond Modification For Lomira Woman Denied

A Dodge County judge this week ruled a $100,000 cash bond is reasonable for a 32-year-old Lomira woman charged in connection with her three-year-old child’s death. Jamie Hildebrandt had asked that her bond be modified, but Judge Steven Bauer ruled against that during a hearing Tuesday. Hildebrandt allegedly admitted to stepping on her son after laying him on the bathroom floor to reach for more diapers, forgetting he was there. An autopsy concluded the toddler died of multiple blunt force injuries to his head, chest and back. Hildebrandt told investigators she didn’t call 911 because she thought he was okay. She is back in court for a preliminary hearing on May 7th.

Protecting And Serving During COVID Outbreak

Markesan Police Chief Will Pflum says as much as they can, he and his officers are also trying to practice social distancing. He says they may be wearing protective personal equipment for some calls they respond to. In other cases they may only need information they can get over the phone. Pflum says they aren’t just trying to protect their officers. “Some people think well we are just trying to protect ourselves. We are really trying to protect the entire community because as one of the sayings that I saw recently said you have to act as if you already have COVID-19. Act as if you have it and then be cautious how you act from that moment forward.” He says in this age of the pandemic they have had to arm themselves with a different type of protective gear.

COVID 19 Coping

The coordinator of the Destination Zero Suicide Prevention Initiative says it’s possible to keep your social distance and still keep in touch with those who are important to you. Tammi Kohlman works for Comprehensive Service Integration of Fond du Lac County says we need to stay connected with people even when we are maintaining isolation during the COVID-19 crisis. “We can still be connected we can keep those social connections as strong as we can, given the circumstances. That’s going to be a little bit different from what people are used to, but it can still be achieved largely. You know you can make some extra phone calls, send random texts.” Also for coping she recommends getting accurate information about the pandemic, limiting the time you watch TV programs or read stories about it, and attending to your health by getting enough rest, exercise, and eating healthy.

Campgrounds Closed In FDL County

The Fond du Lac County Health Department issued an order Tuesday closing campgrounds in the county during the current health emergency. Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says there are several reasons including it encourages non-essential travel, draws people from outside the county, increases shopping at local stores which also impacts supplies and groceries, allows for the congregation of groups of 10 or more people, and reduces the ability to socially distance during the COVID-19 outbreak. The order will be in effect as long as the Governor’s Safer at Home order is in effect.

Program Feeds The Hungry In Ripon During Outbreak

The Ripon Senior Activity Center is partnering with businesses in the area to help feed the needy during the coronavirus pandemic. Today and tomorrow from 4 to 6 p.m. those who want to participate can get a ham or turkey sandwich from Cousin’s Subs in Ripon. “People who make the food Cousin’s Subs are giving away, they are getting reimbursed, but they are giving away ham or turkey sandwiches Thursday and Friday between 4 and 6 to those who need food.” Senior Center Executive Director Noreen Johnson says Senior Citizens and the immunocompromised can get it delivered. Those who would like to participate should call the center at 920-748-6225 and if no one answers, leave your name, number, how many people are in need, whether you want ham or turkey sandwiches, and if you need if delivered. You can also email the information to helpripon@gmail.com. A Go Fund Me Account has been created to help pay for the effort and subsequent efforts.
