Former Ripon Mayor Talks About Running For State Assembly

29 April 2020 News

Former Ripon Mayor Gary Will says he was ready to settle down a little after 10 years as the city’s mayor, but got encouragement and support to run for the 41st State Assembly District seat. He says now he’s excited about the opportunity. He believes his time with the city and eight years on the Fond du Lac County Board could help him accomplish things at the State Capitol that would benefit smaller communities. “You know what there is probably a lot of things I learned at the city actually that we were kind of handcuffed on certain issues and things that maybe I can take to Madison and try to alleviate that a little bit and take the handcuffs off and put some more tools in the tool box for the community back home especially small communities like we have here.” Will grew up learning firsthand a hard work ethic and about self-reliance in Fond du Lac County’s Holy Land. He says he’s a problem solver and thinks outside the box. His campaign slogan and one he lives by is “Where there’s a Will there’s a way.”
