FDL Public Library Announces Winner In 6th Annual Teen Photo Contest

19 April 2020 News

A dramatic shot of winter waves splashing on an icy shore struck a chord with judges, awarding 14-year-old Kristen Heap the grand prize – a $250 gift card – in the Fond du Lac Public Library’s sixth annual Teen Photo Contest.

Judges reviewed 199 entries from teens across the county and awarded one winner in each of the three contest categories: Anything Goes, Street and Weather. The winners:

Grand prize: Kristen Heap, 14, grade 9, Fond du Lac High School

Anything Goes: Alix Jahnke, 12, grade 7, Faith Lutheran School

Street: Briah Krueger, 13, grade 6, homeschool

Weather: Ayden Fowler, 15, grade 9, Horace Mann High School

The four winners will receive their photographs professionally framed, courtesy Gallery & Frame Shop.

Before the COVID-19 quarantine forced the closure of the library, all entries were scheduled to go on display in the library’s Langdon Divers Gallery in May. If the library reopens in May, then the photos will go on display. In the meantime, the winners and all entries are viewable in a slide show posted at fdlpl.org.

Contest judges were Lauren Herlache of Signarama and professional photographers Casey French and Casey Fiebig.
