Ice Shanty Removal Deadline This Sunday

The state’s Department of Natural Resources is reminding residents that ice fishing shanties need to be removed from inland lakes south of State Highway 64 by this Sunday. So that would be for most waters in the lower two-thirds of the state. For Lake Michigan, Green Bay, Lake Superior and inland waters north of State Highway 64 the deadline is Sunday March 15th. Anglers can continue to use portable ice fishing shelters if they feel the ice is safe. Deadlines to remove shelters help eliminate shoreline litter and boating dangers during the spring.
