The Green Bay Packers are expected to sign free-agent wide receiver Devon Funchess. The 6-foot-4 receiver was drafted in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft by the Carolina Panthers. His best season was his third season with the Panthers when he had 111 catches for 840 yards and 8 touchdowns. Last March he signed a one-year contract with the Indianapolis Colts, but was placed on injured reserve after breaking his collarbone in the first week of the season. He had three catches for 32 yards. In 62 career games he has 164 receptions for 2,265 yards and 21 touchdowns.
In other moves Packers GM Brian Gutekunst Tuesday announced the re-signing of Tight End Marcedes Lewis. Lewis played in all 32 games for the Packers over the last two season catching 18 passes for 195 yards and a touchdown.
In other NFL notes yesterday the Carolina Panthers released Quarterback Cam Newton. Newtown played nine seasons for the Panthers.
As expected Tuesday the International Olympic Committee postponed the Summer Olympics in Toyko moving them to next summer.
