It was a close vote, but NFL players have approved a new labor agreement with the league that will feature a 17-game regular season. It will include higher salaries, increased roster sizes and larger pensions for current and former players. The new deal will run through the 2030 season. Last month it was accepted by the 32 team owners. Ratification by the NFL Players Association required a simple majority. However the league’s planned opening of the 2020 NFL business season on Wednesday could be delayed given league restrictions on travel due to the new coronavirus.
Milwaukee Bucks players have pledged money to help out arena workers while the NBA season is suspended due to the pandemic. Reigning NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo pledged $100,000 Friday on behalf of his family and later that day Bucks All-Star Khris Middleton also donated $100,000. On Saturday, every player on the Bucks’ roster pledged to make a donation to a fund to pay workers during what will be at least a 30-day period without NBA games. In a tweet Giannis said, “It’s bigger than basketball! And during this tough time I want to help the people that make my life, my family’s lives and my teammates lives easier.”
