Lomira Woman Charged In Toddler’s Death

Prosecutors in Dodge County have charged a 32-year-old Lomira woman in connection with her three-year-old child’s death. Bond was set at $100,000 cash when Jamie Hildebrandt made her initial appearance in court Thursday. She allegedly admitted to stepping on her son after laying him on the bathroom floor to reach for more diapers, forgetting he was there. An autopsy concluded the toddler died of multiple blunt force injuries to his head, chest and back. Hildebrandt told investigators she didn’t call 911 because she thought he was okay. She will be back in court for a preliminary hearing on April 16th.

Green Lake’s new police chief says although he’s not originally from Green Lake he has become invested in the community during his nearly 25 years with the police department. Jason Reysen succeeded Mike Ratter as chief when Ratter retired at the end of last month. Reysen has been with the department since 1995 and became a sergeant in 2012. He says he can’t think of anywhere else he would want to live now. “This is my roots now I have a family here. I’m involved I don’t know any other way to put it. I’m here, this is my home. My wife’s family is from the area, so we’re here we’re never going anywhere.” He says Green Lake residents are appreciative of the service their police department provides and they let them know in person or through cards and letters.

Ripon Area United Way Board of Directors President Jeff Puhlmann-Becker says they are always looking for people who would be willing to serve on their board. He notes they recently added three new members, but says there is always a need. “So we are always looking for good people who are energized about this community that love Ripon that have some connections in the community and are willing to use those connections and be vocal about the needs and the opportunities in Ripon.” The current fundraising campaign with an $85,000 goal will close out at the end of the month.

Utility Disconnection Moratorium Extended

Friday Wisconsin’s Public Service Commission directed water, electric, and natural gas utilities to cease disconnecting residential service for nonpayment until the state public health emergency has been lifted. Additionally, utilities must make reasonable attempts to reconnect service to an occupied dwelling that has been disconnected. The state is currently under a winter moratorium on disconnections of water, electric, and natural gas service when used for home heating. The moratorium runs until April 15th and would typically allow for disconnections for nonpayment to resume. The moratorium would be extended for all service until the public health emergency is lifted.
