Green Lake’s New Police Chief
13 March 2020 News
Green Lake’s new police chief isn’t exactly new to the department. Jason Reysen has been with the department for nearly 25 years, the last eight as a sergeant. He succeeded Mike Ratter as chief after Ratter retired at the end of last month. Reysen went into the Marine Corps after graduating from high school, but a knee injury forced him out. He went back to school studying Police Science at Western Wisconsin Technical College in La Crosse. His father told him about the opening for a police officer in Green Lake and Reysen was hired in June of 1995. He says it’s a small department and he is working police chief still doing patrol in addition to administrative duties. “I’m still expected to run traffic, traffic stops and take calls. I’m not a standard chief for like a bigger city where they are all about administration. So, I’m still a police officer, I’m still a member of our Green Lake Area SWAT Team.” The department has three full-time officers and four part-time officers. Reysen says he’s still adapting to some of his new duties, but he’s enjoying it so far.
